Today I'm participating in the Wednesday Hodgepodge, at From This Side of the Pond. If you'd care to join me in this blog-hop, click the link below the picture.

1. What's something in your house you'd like to get rid of but can't?
The white bedding. I have others stored, but the bedding is included with the 2x weekly cleaning, so it stays. I've gotten makeup on it, and just the other day I killed a bug that smeared BLOOD right in the middle of the duvet! Yuck. Who uses white bedding anymore?
2. When is the last time you experienced a sense of nostalgia? Elaborate.
Thanks to Facebook, quite often. But I don't really have close friends to talk to "about the old days" - they are all so far away we stay in touch through social media. I think without someone to talk about the nostalgia, nostalgia passes pretty quickly.
3. You're only allowed three apps on your smart phone or tablet...which three do you keep?
My Bible app, Sudoku (maybe Brain Yoga, actually. It's a toss-up), and GPS. If GPS doesn't count against my 3 apps because the phone came with it, then I'd choose Instagram. A lot of apps can be done on a computer or piece of paper, but Instagram requires a smart phone or tablet!
4. July 11th is National Blueberry Muffin Day. Who knew? Do you like blueberry muffins? If you were going to have a muffin would blueberry be your choice? What's the last thing you baked?
Blueberry muffins are, perhaps, my least favorite muffin. Lemon Poppyseed, or orange-cranberry, or apple-bran are all more flavorful than blueberry, to me. However, I'll happily eat a plate of blueberry pancakes!
I haven't had an oven in two years. I cannot remember what I last baked, but it was probably scones of some sort. I'll take any scone over any muffin almost any day! (unless it's red bean - which I've seen in Starbucks in Beijing.)
5. What's the biggest way you've changed since you were a child? In what way are you still the same?
I'm much more open-minded now; more accepting. I also have a better understanding of some issues I had as a kid. I still love Asia and geography, and I'm still an avid reader.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I titled this "Purging Hodgepodge" because it purges something from my home, many things from my phone, and memories. Maybe there's a better way to connect these questions, but that was the first thing that came to my mind.
Mmm, orange-cranberry muffins ....
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteI had friends whose folks moved to a brand new house, so they bought themselves brand new furniture, including a living room set in white upholstery... which they then covered with those nasty, sticky clear vinyl covers.
ReplyDeleteWHY??
White is only lovely and fresh for as long as you can keep it clean.
Just say no...
Agreed!
DeleteI agree, the white would have to go! I like the looks of it in all the decorating magazines and on the TV shows, but the reality is that my family is more suited to....mud brown, grunge gray, or something like that. LOL
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love the name of your blog and took the time to read the "why" of it. I do think we all get our geek on for something in our own way. Have a blessed day!
Thank you! White looks lovely and pure for a decorating magazine... the kind of "could be anything" blank canvas, but I'd still rather see a decorator's creativity with mixing varieties of colors.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I love white, when it's white, but don't have the time or energy to deal with it to keep it that way.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever had an orange cranberry muffin. It actually sounds good, and I'm not even a fan of muffins.
Blessings~
Yeah, I'm not a big muffin person either. Actually, I'm not a big bread person in general. But I'll eat a muffin, if it's offered!
DeleteI see a lot of white bedding on Pinterest, but would not trust myself to not wreck it.
ReplyDeleteLemon poppy seed, that's a good one!
My husband found bedding on pinterest that looks like zombies are crawling up the edges. It's pretty bloody looking and gross, but I'd entertain that before using white! In a month, we'll be in a new place.
DeleteI do love white bedding, but I guess it's not very practical. I have a white couch and I try not to let it make me crazy : ) Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteWow! I've only seen it in hotels. Did you scotch-guard your couch?
DeleteI wouldn't like white either. No way I could ever keep it white. I'm just not that good at laundry. lol
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great day.
Actually, because bedding is provided by and cleaned by the staff here, it rotates around, and the current set we have has a few cuts in it, that were apparently glued back together? It's a terribly itchy spot. I'll be glad when the sheets are changed again.
DeleteOh yum!!! You definitely made me hungry with the lemon poppy-seed muffin and SCONES! I love those bad boys!!! I coudl NEVER have white sheets...I am so messy; I would be washing them EVERYDAY! HA!Annster's Domain
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in the States, I found that scones are so easy to make, I started making them often. As far as sheets, I prefer patterns, if possible. Patterns are more forgiving of stains.
DeleteAs much maintenance as white bedding requires, it sure makes a room look amazing! It's just so classy and easy to accessorize.
ReplyDeleteI've always been more of a colorful person. I've never been a big decorator anyway, but I like setting a tone in a room with a color if at all possible. For me, accessorizing means keeping extra things that just will need to be shipped to the next place. I'm sure I'll collect things as we travel, but I try to choose items that are useful, or compact for travel.
DeleteIt is kind of a purging topic, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThank you, that's what I thought!
DeleteI don't have white bedlinen mine is all colorful ! I need a GPS badly, without it, I am like a blind ! I have no sense of orientation !
ReplyDeleteI have found that, if I live near an ocean, I have a better sense of direction. I don't know why. Living inland messed with my head!
DeleteThat was certainly a hodge podge of questions Red - but now I know more about your bed linen than most of your friends do - and blueberry muffins are my least favourite too - I think I'm actually allergic to blueberries but am too scared to eat too many of them again to find out - going into anaphylactic shock isn't high on my to-do list!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your allergy! I love blueberries. Of course, I haven't had them in a long time. They're not a particularly tropical fruit, I guess. I'll have to stick to jack fruit and lychee for a while.
DeleteI have a houseful of all white carpet! Now call me crazy! I'd trade it for hardwood floors in a heart beat. I love Instagram. Especially all the doggie pictures.
ReplyDeleteMy parents have a slight beige-y colored carpet in the main living room and the stairs down to the lower level (they live on a hill). I think when my little nieces are a bit older, they will have it replaced.
DeleteI hopped on this bloghop also. It was quite fun.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I missed that! I'll have to go check it out.
