Slowly Beginning to Fulfill my IOU...and Indiana Randomness

So here I am in Indiana,
...somewhere in here...

or as Bozo likes to say “The Brett Zone”… although we’re still not in the same timezone, so….

ANYway, just to “fill in a little’a the details” (Sally Tomato, in Breakfast at Tiffany’s), from way back in February, I told you that my parents have a pipe organ in their house, but I didn’t have access to my photo of the organ. Now that I’m actually at their house, here you go:

Proof that I wasn’t merely exaggerating to make a point.

This is a short post, because I have to sort through the boxes in the hallway and get stuff out of the way, and would like to do so before they return from town. Most everything is in their shed (the same shed where Dad sets up the woodsplitter, and keeps his axe and chainsaw)

all my worldly goods and possessions
...except what's in the house for immediate use.

…but I HAVE to tell you this tiny little thing that just happened. Before leaving, my dad was looking out the back door, and apparently saw a squirrel. He loves to torment them by opening that door, because it has a gasket to make it seal tightly, and makes a squeaking noise when he opens it, that makes the squirrels run.  He was opening and closing it several times in succession last night, when Mom asked what he was doing. “Scaring the squirrels off the lawn.” …as in “duh!” Oh…the retired lifestyle.

Can you see this link?

You might have already seen this Squirrel Slingshot before. It's not anything they have going here, but who knows, they might!

Now to catch up where I left off.
I recently failed you when I was given the list of Eleven (see this post). I was unable to connect you with 11 blogs at that moment because I'm a goober I forgot my planner my dog ate my blog I take this seriously and wanted to point you in new directions.

Continuing with the blog recommendations I owe you:

The Oatmeal http://theoatmeal.com/ - grammar stuff, in a fun way!

Musings of a Country Preacher http://predigtamt.wordpress.com/ - It's not all religious, preachy stuff, although he does seem to include his sermons most of the time. There's actually a variety of other media here.

Now I owe you just 5 more blogs.

  1. So, do you have the wood splitter and chainsaw blocked in?

    1. Actually, the wood-splitter is a neighbor's - he just sets it up in there. And I didn't see the chainsaw, so I have no idea. There's an awful lot of firewood in there, though!

  2. Scaring the squirrel's? I can't wait to be retired.

A flying squirrel, seems vaguely familiar. Does it shoot them back into the woods where the Moose is?

    2. Well, it shoots them into the woods...

  3. Yay, you made it!

Now tell your dad to leave those poor squirrels alone. Doesn't he know they're your friends?

  4. OMGosh you turned off captcha. DO you have any idea how happy this makes me?

  5. I really like the idea of the squirrel launcher. You wouldn't believe the design possibilities going through my head to make something like that for salesmen that come to the door.

There's something a little sad about having all of ones belongings piled up in the corner of a shed. Hope you find someplace cozy to spread it all back out soon. :)

    1. Yeah, it gives one some perspective to see it all in a pile. Just think, if the shelves weren't lying on their weak backs, we'd have put the small boxes into the shelves, and it would have looked like an even smaller pile!

  6. Definitely the Brett Zone lol... so much fun to see you using that phrase here. Also, your dad cracks me up so much! Very cute of him to sit there and freak out the squirrels!

I couldn't quite stay away from the computer - but the days are long so there's plenty of time for beaching and blogging. All is good. Now I don't have to worry about exciting things happening here without me.

    1. Mom just filled her hummingbird feeders yesterday, and when the first hummingbird arrived this morning, Dad suggested she put some of my booze into the feeder. He really is an animal lover, believe it or not. He loves tormenting them, too, is all.

I enjoy a good debate. Feel free to shake things up. Tell me I'm wrong. Ask me why I have such a weird opinion. ...or, just laugh and tell how this relates to you and your life.
