I think I'm bending the rules a bit this year. I haven't even looked at the main A-to-Z Challenge blog to see what the rules are this year! I'm behind the 8-ball, you could say.
BUT... I'm making an attempt. Playing catch-up. "A" post up? Check (a day late). "B" post up? As soon as I click [publish].
Most years, I register in advance, set up my theme, and designate my own rules for how I will do it. I post daily, not pre-writing most posts, although occasionally I allow myself to get a day ahead. That's part of the fun of the challenge, isn't it? Building the habit of posting daily? And checking out other blogs.
Most years, I download the master list of A-to-Z participants, methodically sort it according to topic, and visit all of the blogs within the topics that interest me. Every blog I visit, I comment on. So far, it hasn't generated much traffic to my blog, but that's okay. I find new blogs I like, and that's the best. Besides, with a low follower count, I don't have any pressure to post too much. Which is handy when Life gets in the way.
So what do you think: Is it bending the rules to do two posts in one day? Is it bending the rules to get involved after the fact? I really don't think so.
If I get in and register after the fact, then I'll have to look at what the rules really are. For now... B!
This is the 5th year I am doing the Challenge. Not that it has really made my blog the most popular in the world! But I have discovered a few good blogs. If I remember right, I chanced upon your blog too in an April. I for one am going to look forward to your 26 posts this month! Keep blogging :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, and I yours. Was it your blog that did a story about a monkey? But even if that wasn't on your blog, I'm sure I found you during April.
DeleteMake it work for you. The challenge is supposed to be fun. If it's not fun for you, why bother? So, I say bend all the rules you want :)
ReplyDeleteA very good point!
DeleteMy inner workings necessitate that if I commit to something (e.g. register for a challenge) I must see it through and follow the rules. That's why I didn't register in advance: I didn't think I'd be able to do every day, as I have previously. Who knew I'd have an 11th-hour burst of energy!
Hello fellow A to Zer - I like to bend the A to Z rules too, esp. when I get to the harder letter topics like U, V, X, Y and Z.
ReplyDeleteI think, in this case, it's more the fact that I never took the time to read the rules, or see if anything had changed, so I don't really know for sure...
DeleteBending the rules is good, after all you are joining in the challenge. I also can't pre-write. I am loving the challenge of writing each day!
ReplyDeleteSee you around the A-Z challenge!

Actually, I already ended up a day ahead, because I forgot Sundays don't count. But it only lasted for one day.
DeleteIt is alright to bend the rules a bit if it means no harm
ReplyDeleteI think bending the rules is a good thing every now and then! On a whim last week I decided to do the challenge this year after a few year hiatus from it. They didn't even put the master sign up list up until March 30th so you weren't too far behind and it seems like you caught up and are spot on so to speak for future letters! Enjoy the rest of the challenge with however you participate with it!

I didn't know it went up so late! Then I definitely feel like I'm doing well. Thanks!
DeleteI never bend the rules. It feels like cheating.
